This privacy policy explains what information the Citation Generator Chrome Extension (“the Extension”) collects, how it is used, and how it is protected. The Extension is designed to generate citations from webpages the user chooses. It does not track browsing activity or collect unnecessary personal data.

2. Information We Collect

a. Webpage Metadata (User‑Initiated)

When you click the extension to generate a citation, it temporarily accesses the active webpage to extract publicly available metadata such as:

• Page title
• URL
• Author information
• Publication date
• Structured metadata (OpenGraph, JSON‑LD, etc.)

This data is used only to generate a citation and is not stored after processing.

b. Subscription & Usage Data

To support the free and paid plans, the Extension stores:

• A user identifier (non‑sensitive)
• Subscription status (free or pro)
• Daily citation count (for free tier limits)

This data is stored using Chrome’s storage API and/or your account on our backend server.

c. Payment Information

Payments are handled securely through Stripe.
